Prize for Women in Logic and the Philosophy of Science, awarded by the Società Italiana di Logica e Filosofia delle Scienze (SILFS) for my paper "One or Two. A Process View of Pregnancy"
The SILFS evaluation committee write in their justification:
"Since Aristotle, substances have enjoyed a sort of ontological primacy, and this has shaped our language and thought. Anne Sophie Meincke asks us to look at the world around us in terms of processes rather than entities, and thus at a pregnant individual as a process – a “bifurcating hypercomplex process”. This innovative perspective appears able to open promising research directions and generate fruitful debates, not only in the domain of the metaphysics of pregnancy, but also in the fields of philosophy of biology, ethics and bioethics."
By joining the BPA / SWIP Good Practice Scheme, SILFS (Società Italiana di Logica e Filosofia delle Scienze) has set out to promote and organize events, projects and awards that are specifically dedicated to the enhancement of contribution of under-represented groups in the disciplines of logic and philosophy of science. In this perspective, the SILFS Prize for Women in Logic and the Philosophy of Science was established as a biennial award for those who recognize themselves as women.
I have presented my award-winning paper "One or Two? A Process View of Pregnancy" in a Lectio magistralis as part of the Award Ceremony on 16th November 2021, organised by Luisa Damiano on behalf of the Italian Society for Logic and Philosophy of Science.
I will also be a keynote speaker at the 5th Postgraduate Conference of the Italian Society for Logic and the Philosophy of Science (SILFS), Milano, Italy,16th June 2022 .
